Feel the heat, avoid the burn

Ladies and gentlemen of the class of 2008: wear sunscreen. If we could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. Baz Luhrmann was just as right in his 1999 Top 40 hit as he is today (although this year the good weather came later than usual).

About those lectures: why so serious?

You're having a jolly holiday, roving 'cross campus under the smiling sun, when you remember your next class is a history lecture (or psychology, if you'd like). Why does this thought cast a gloomy cloud in your psyche? Unless you're unhealthily obsessed with either subject, it's probably because such lectures are typically so boring they'd make Ben Stein cry with envy.

Response to Roman Nose and Wozich Opposing views Is something wrong with President Bush attending his daughter's wedding? Why? Do presidents need to stop being fathers? I can appreciate the feelings of mothers of deployed military personnel. Those in the military could have gotten out if they wanted to.

St. Barack, hear our prayers

It has been several weeks since I first attempted to witness the proverbial canonization of Saint Barack (by way of rally) at Mac Court in Eugene. Don't get me wrong: C-SPAN has lured me in often enough with its rip-roaringly captivating programs that I've had plenty of chances to watch Obama's stump speech.
