Many OSU students struggle to find a healthy balance between their academic life and their personal life, often sacrificing sleep for the sake of a grade.

Traditionally a time to relax and review class material, dead week has become riddled with papers, projects and the like. Though some professors still try to respect the concept of dead week, students scrambling to finish last minute course work feel that dead week is anything but dead.

There are resources on campus to help students cope with the pressure of term papers, class projects and imminent final exams.

The Writing Center room 123 of Waldo Hall is one such place, which offers guidance and feedback.

"I've been there quite a few times," said Phil Menagh, a senior in nutrition and food management. "It's a great place to get another opinion".

Nadya Al-Sheikhly, a senior in English, also recommends the center to students needing a little extra help with their papers.

"Oh, it's very helpful. They really know they're talking about," Al-Sheikhly said.

The Writing Center is open weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be closing for spring break at noon on March 21. They're now accepting drop-ins.

The Collaborative Learning Center, located on the main floor of the Valley Library, is a hot spot of activity for tutors and study groups.

The Academic Success Center, nestled in Room 102 of Waldo Hall, is another resource available to OSU students. Along with computer facilities, they provide individual consultations, and counseling on everything from test anxiety to time management.

"We're all about students" said Moira E.W. Dempsey, Academic Success Center director. "We help them have a more balanced approach to finals."

Students can schedule a meeting with Peer Success Specialists - fellow OSU students trained as academic coaches.

"It's about students helping other students become more successful in academics," Dempsey said.

Dempsey also had words of wisdom for the busy student.
