The Oregon State Medical Examiner's office has positively identified a body found in the North Umpqua River Thursday as Jeffrey B. Schmidt, a 22-year-old OSU junior who had been missing since Nov. 19 when his Jeep in crashed into the river.

The Oregon State Police were notified Saturday night that a positive identification had been made through a dental record match.

Schmidt, from Medford, was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity majoring in geography. He had been traveling with his girlfriend, OSU student Quinn Do Truong, whose body was found in the submerged Jeep.

Schmidt and Truong were traveling on Highway 138E, returning from a social event at Diamond Lake, when the car crashed into the river.
