Fifteen OSU students from many academic disciplines explore Antarctica
Over winter break, 15 OSU students embarked on a trip to Antarctica as part of a class given by Michael Harte, professor for the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences. The expedition lasted about two and a half weeks and included students from various majors, not all from the science field.

Oregon State students and faculty members met in the MU last night to commemorate the life of Gayatri Shrivastava, a 25-year-old graduate student who lost her life in a car accident near Seal Rock over winter break. A picture of Shrivastava and a clear vase of white and yellow carnations were arranged on a table next to a podium at the center of the room.

OSU to undergo ten-year NCAA recertification

As is required by NCAA rules, OSU offers forums to discuss performance by athletics
OSU is in the process of renewing their NCAA certification and is looking for public and school input for the renewal process. The renewal began in Aug. 2008, and after several steps as laid out by the NCAA, will end with a decision in Feb. 2010. All NCAA Division 1 schools are required to go through a recertification process every 10 years.

Professor may have discovered cancer killer in molecule

Nur77, a large nuclear receptor, has been known to migrate to the mitochondria and kill cells
Siva Kolluri, a professor at OSU in environmental and molecular toxicology, has helped discover a molecule that may help kill cancer cells. This discovery has been published in "Cancer Cell," "Science-Business eXchange," "Nature Drug Discovery" and "Nature Chemical Biology," all of which are highly recognized in the world of science.

OSU Robotics Club makes tracks, gains members

Robotics Club has seen high numbers since its victory at 2008's University Rover Challenge
Eight months ago, the OSU Robotics Club gained an unexpected victory at the 2008 University Rover Challenge at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. Now, more than doubled in size, the club is preparing for another competition, and the members are confident that their hard work will pay off again.
