Due to a lack of funds, students receiving the Oregon Opportunity Grant were supposed to each lose $80 worth of funding for spring term. Part-time students would have seen a loss of $40. However, more than 3,400 OSU students won't feel the pinch this spring because OSU alumni and friends have made up the difference.

The small town of Maupin, located in Eastern Oregon, has been experiencing a large number of earthquakes over the past two years, and OSU researchers are trying to figure out why. There have been around 350 earthquakes since December 2006. While most of them go unnoticed except by the seismometers, around 15 have reached a magnitude strong enough to be felt by the surrounding community, according to Jochen Braunmiller, research assistant for the OSU College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS).

Corvallis has a new way to lose weight. Tuesday evening, Corvallis' Franklin Elementary School gym was packed with OSU students and community members of all ages trying out the Zumba workout. Zumba is a Latin dance workout that incorporates fast-paced music for an aerobic workout.
