Rocking the MU Basement
Battle of the Bands' first and second place artists perform Friday night; charity hopes to raise money for at-risk teens
While students often visit the MU Basement for its bowling or billiards, Friday night they received the added entertainment of having three live bands perform onstage.
The concert was put on in an effort to promote activities available for students in the Basement.

State Rep. Sara Gelser gave a public lecture on Friday afternoon titled "Women, Power and Politics" at the OSU Women's Center.
Gelser has served as state representative of Corvallis and Philomath since 2005. Much of her work has been devoted to helping women and children dealing with domestic violence, rape and child abuse.
Young poets welcomed at OSU

The English department's Visiting Writers Series brought the second installment of the series to OSU on Friday night, titled "The Symposium of Younger Poets."
Approximately 90 guests filled the Valley Library Rotunda to hear the three poets read several selections of their poetry and answer questions about the craft.
Reach Out Yoga raising money for mind, body awareness
Non-profit organization offers yoga to those who might not normally have access to it
Reach Out Yoga, a nonprofit organization based in Corvallis, is more than aware of the benefits that yoga can bring to a person's body and mind.
According to their website, their mission is to bring the "transformative power of yoga" to at-risk populations in Corvallis and surrounding communities.
