Just when fans think the Oregon State baseball team is about to stumble, a player elevates himself and the team to another level.
In no way was that more evident than yesterday at Goss Stadium when sophomore Ryan Ortiz hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel Oregon State (24-19, 11-10) past UCLA (25-23, 8-10) in the third and deciding game of the series 8-7.
Softball ends season, loses
Oregon State women, fall to UCLA, end 2008 season under .500
Senior Cambria Miranda could only do so much on Senior Day and the Beavers fell 5-1 to the Bruins Saturday afternoon, just one day after upsetting the No. 3 ranked UCLA team a day before at the OSU Softball Complex.
UCLA (45-7, 17-4 Pac-10) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning.
Five games in five days
Oregon State continues play against Utah Valley State
The dog days of spring continue for Oregon State baseball as they host the Wolverines of Utah Valley State for a two-game series at home starting tonight. This series will mark five home games in the last five days for the Beavers who are looking to sneak their way back into the post season hunt and the top 25 after dropping out last week.
