This past weekend at the inaugural Papé Grand Slam, the Beavers may have begun to start answering that question.

Senior Travis Gardner (Portland, Ore.) and junior Kyle Bressler (Federal Way, Wash.) earned decisions in their championship matches at heavyweight and 197 pounds to win individual titles at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships, leading the Beavers to a third place finish with 106.

Tiffany Ducker scored 17 points and Alex Mitchell grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and notched her first career double-double (10 pts) but it wasn't quite enough as Oregon (13-16, 7-11) defeated Oregon State (11-18, 4-14) in a game that was closer than final score indicates, 60-49.

Good, bad, ugly of week

We all witnessed a historic weekend for Beaver athletics. The problem is, history has a way of balancing itself out. This weekend we saw the good, the bad and the ugly, all in about 48 hours. First things first - the good. The baseball team drew a Pac-10 record crowd of over 10,000 on Saturday at PGE Park in Portland, but lost the game 10-5.
