Blackface: what's your opinion?

Hopefully this event will spark further dialogue in classes and offices, all over our campus and our community. That's my hope. If we don't talk about these things, then they cannot be understood or healed. If we can educate each other about what is appropriate or acceptable, then we are making strides to improve our community and ourselves.

Examining offenses

We've spent a week talking about it, and it's created quite a stir on campus. The editorial board of The Daily Barometer felt that the matter required more than just simply running the column submitted by staff columnist Renée Roman Nose. A few weeks ago, we ran a news story that included a graphic of a college-aged male wearing all black.

Oh, how Halloween has changed with time, now what's it about?

In third grade I dressed as Bill Clinton for Halloween. Apparently, at 9 years old I had already established firm political beliefs I felt like imposing on the general public. It was election year; my best friend adorned a blonde wig, and together we darted around my neighborhood, spreading politics and hungering for candy.

Response to Roman Nose Black Out Reser Apparently wearing black face paint and donning an afro are now considered racist. I didn't see that one coming. On Wednesday the Gazette Times published an article about the recent "Black Out Reser" event conceived by OSU student Casey Grogan.
