Yea to the Oregon State baseball team for playing a game at Seattle's Safeco Field over the weekend. While OSU lost, head coach Pat Casey lured Ichiro onto the team bus and convinced him that he is, in fact, a junior in music and outfielder for the Beavers baseball team.
Financial inequality: incentives run amok
On March 13, Alan Greenspan said, "Income inequality is where the capitalist system is most vulnerable. You can't have the capitalist system if an increasing number of people think it is unjust."
It's often claimed that income inequality is a necessary incentive for members of society to work hard, educate themselves, develop their potential and rise to excellence in their schools and workplaces.
Respect is earned
George Santayana said, "Those who do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them."
Eric Wilson's column on May 7, aside from lacking any understanding of what I write about as a columnist for this publication, shows his lack of knowledge of the genuine history of this continent, which began thousands of years before his "150 years" proclaimed.

I am writing to shed light on a serious issue concerning students in the Oregon University System. After years of disinvestment in higher education, it is time for the legislature to do something about it.
