An accident that occurred just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday has closed Southwest Western Boulevard between Southwest 26th Street and Southwest 30th Street.
The white, late-80s/early-90s Mustang was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed in Philomath, according to Corvallis Police Department Sgt. Jeff Marr.
A Philomath Police officer, who spotted the Mustang in Philomath, was unable to catch up to the driver until the crash.
The car crashed and came to rest upside-down and perpendicular to the street. The driver was ejected from the car and was transported to the hospital, according to CPD.
Bystanders approximated that the car was traveling between 100 and 120 miles per hour.
"I heard the cop's sirens when he crashed," said Mike Miller, a junior in history and education.
"We all heard the crash," said Katie Cornell, a senior in exercise and sports science.
The car also caught fire. Miller, who lives in an apartment nearby, grabbed an "ABC" kitchen fire extinguisher and tried to battle the blaze.
The Corvallis Police Department, Corvallis Fire Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office and Philomath Police Department responded to the crash.
The driver's name and condition are not being released at this time.
It is unknown at this time whether alcohol was a factor in this crash.
