I think biofuels could be the wave of the future. Sustainable, less polluting, and possibly lowering maintenance requirements on engines, if the biofuels actually run cleaner. In developing countries there are more people interested in biofuels, especially in Africa, where I have some friends working for an American company which runs the power station at a site in Mali. They are diesel mechanics and electrical guys, and are optimistic about biofuels.
The company they work for, www.uspowerco.com, primarily supports diesel and natural gas generators, but one of them told me their company is looking at biofuels.

Biofuels could be the next big thing, especially in developing nations. I have a friend who works in Africa, maintaining a diesel power station, and he told me the company he works for is looking into biofuels, because of the low quality and high expense of the "regular" diesel fuel in Mali. The maintenance program his employer's company put in place saves the power station a lot of money, and part of the program is filtering and cleaning the diesel fuel before it gets to the generators, which would not be so time consuming with the inherently cleaner biofuels. His employer, uspowerco.com, is working to reduce carbon footprint, as well as saving their customers money.
