What ever happened to the notion of personal responsibility?
The blame game, sue me, sue you, sue everyone....blame everyone else but the dude who drank the booze. Those under 21 want the same rights to purchase booze....and this is an example of why others feel they should wait. No one wins....the luddites lost.

This is the worst thing I have ever read, ever.
How can you furnish alcohol to a minor if you can't buy it yourself??????

Shame on the Barometer for not getting their facts straight. Peat was not convicted of 'furnishig alcohol to a minor that resulted in death.' He plead out to one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The other furnishing charged was dropped. And guess which charge was dropped?? Yes, it was the charge for Mr. Strickland. Peat was charged for furnishing to the friend of Strickland and not Strickland.
I feel bad for Peat anyway. He was only 17 years old, when all the others were 18-21. He was the true minor here.
And 'Matt T', I just shook my head reading your comment. Do you even know any of the facts in the case? Go get the file from the courthouse. Did you know that Mr. Strickland was passed out drunk the night before he even came into Corvallis? Did you also know that he had done this several times before? No, I didn't think so. You're one of those 'don't confuse me with the facts' types, I'm guessing??

Matt - I actually didn't shame on you, I shamed on the paper. But it seems they are at least trying to fix their wrongs, as evidenced by today's correction. Maybe someday even the WHOLE truth will come out. Or better yet, maybe we can all just move on now to bigger, better and more positive things.
