This is awesome. Beaver athletes will be richly rewarded with this news. I've seen other universities cutting back, eliminating programs. It's pretty fortunate that we can this happening right now.

Over the years, men's cross country and track & field programs have produced numerous great runners, such as distance runner Dale Story, who, running barefoot in 1961, lead the Beaver cross country team to the NCAA Cross Country Championship. At the 1968 NCAA Track and Field meet, the Beavers nailed down third place in the nation. Three Beavers were NCAA champions in their events, Dick Fosbury in the high jump, Jim Barkley in the steeplechase and Steve DeAutremont in the hammer.
Fosbury went on to win a gold medal at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968 with a leap of 7 feet 4 and ΒΌ inches. In doing so, he perfected the "Fosbury Flop," in which the jumper goes over the bar on his back. Journalists covering the games went nuts over the new technique, which revolutionized the sport.
Yes, it will be great to see the men's cross country and track & field programs return to Oregon State. These programs will give us more venues in which to beat the Ducks!
